GV II

House, now Public house. Early C16, restored 1960. Mid C20 rear addition. Close studded timber framing with arch braces and rendered nogging, with brick underbuild and plain tile roof with sprocketed eaves. Jettied upper floors with curved brackets. 3 storeys, 3 bays. C20 windows with leaded glazing. Central canted 5-light oriel window flanked by single 3-light casements. Above, 3 smaller continuous casements of 3:5:3 lights. Central double door with overlight, flanked by single 4-light casements. Right gable has two 3-light casements on each floor, those to the second floor being smaller. Large rear addition, brick with plain tile roof. Interior has extensive exposed timber framing, much of it renewed, with rough hewn span beams and pole joists. Single purlin principal rafter roof with collars and wind braces, and arch-braced cambered tie beams. (Buildings of England: N Pevsner, revised E Williamson: Nottinghamshire: London: 1979-: 192).
