Description

This is a late 18th-century house, now used as a shop and offices. It is located on the south-west side of Chain Lane in Newark on Trent. The building is constructed of brick, with the front surface colourwashed, and features a pantile roof and two gable stacks. The eaves are rebated brick, and the windows have segmental heads. The three storeys are divided by three twelve-pane sashes on the ground and first floors, with three smaller six-pane sashes above. The left-hand window on the upper floor has been replaced with a 20th-century louvred window. The central entrance has a fielded six-panel door with an overlight, flanked by taller sashes with panelled shutters.
