Description

This is an 18th-century threshing barn located south east of Stone House in Egmanton. The barn is constructed of brick with a pantile roof. It is a single-story building with three unequal bays arranged in an L-shape. The east front has a centrally positioned doorway with a timber lintel, flanked by two slit breathers to the left and three to the right. Above the doorway are seven further breathers. The west side features a lower door with a timber lintel and a pair of plank doors. To the right of this door are two breathers, and above them, four more. The north and south gables both have four tiers of breathers, with single cross breathers in the peaks. The roof structure is a principal rafter design, incorporating tenoned purlins, collars, and rafters. Adjoining the barn on the west side is a range of 19th and 20th century brick and timber outbuildings with pantile and Roman tile roofs, which are not considered to be of special architectural or historic interest.
