Description
35 Castlegate is a house that now functions as a house and restaurant. It was built around 1800, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and has a concrete tile roof. It features a first-floor band, dentillated eaves, and two gable stacks. The structure is three storeys high and has a two-window range of plain sash windows, with a single sash window to the left and a tripartite window to the right. Above, there is similar window arrangement with smaller glazing bar sashes, all of which have flat arches. The entrance below features an off-centre wooden doorcase with an open pediment supported by curved brackets, a six-panel door, and a plain fanlight. On either side of the door, there are 20th-century glazing bar shop windows, with the one on the right being larger. Inside, there is an open well stair.
