Description
33 Castlegate is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was built around 1800 and underwent changes to its windows in the mid-19th century, with further alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. It has half-round brick dentillated eaves, a single coped gable, and a single gable stack. The structure is three storeys high and has a three-window range on the front. The central window is a plain sash, flanked by two tripartite plain sashes. Above this, there is similar window arrangement with smaller sashes, all of which have flat arches. The ground floor has a rendered shopfront from around 1935, which includes a full-width fascia. To the left of the shopfront, there is a splayed doorway flanked by single-pane windows. To the right of the doorway, there is a recessed entrance also flanked by a single-pane window, with all these windows featuring obscured toplights. Further to the right, there is a carriage opening.
