Description
The water tower at Rufford Abbey, built in the late 19th century by John Birch, is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings. It features a square plan and consists of five stages, each adorned with unglazed windows that have projecting ashlar architraves. A chamfered doorway is located on the north side. Each stage above the doorway has four windows. Adjacent to the tower is a single-storey, single-bay building made of dressed stone, which includes a doorway with a segmental head on the north side. The boundary wall, which is approximately 60 meters long, is made of irregularly coursed dressed stone and brick, topped with shaped ashlar coping, and has a semi-circular plan with two gateways.
