Description

This is a group of three dwellings, originally built in the 17th century and later adapted into two retail units during the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber-framed with rendered brick infill and a clay tile roof.

The main part of the building runs in a straight line, facing southeast. Additional sections project to the rear, one at the north end and one at the south end. The ground floor now houses two shop units. The northern shop has a 19th-century facade with plate glass windows. The southern shop is accessed through a single timber door, flanked by sliding sash windows and shutters, all set within a rendered surround.

The first floor is jettied, featuring a carved bressummer and cornice detail along the front elevation. The underside of the passage beneath the building shows a single bressummer with joists running perpendicular to the street, and the side walls of the passage are painted brick. A single sliding sash window is located on the rear of the first floor, above a carriage arch with a box frame. The rear of the shop at the south end has several small brick extensions painted. A catslide roof connects to a single-storey extension, while another extension stands separately and was likely used as ancillary buildings, probably dating to the 18th century. A two-storey brick gable extension, likely from the 19th century, is visible at the rear of the northern shop, featuring six-over-six sash windows with external security bars on the ground floor.
