Description
The Nunnery is a late 16th-century farmhouse located on the north side of South End in Collingham. It features coursed blue lias rubble and brick construction, with timber framing and pargetted rendering. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with 20th-century pantiles, and the gables are coped with brick. The building has two storeys with garrets and is arranged in an L-plan with three bays and five windows.
The south entrance is off-centre and consists of a part-glazed 20th-century door with a timber lintel, flanked by a single 19th-century three-light glazing bar Yorkshire sash window. Beyond this is a 20th-century rubble gabled porch with a close boarded door, followed by another 19th-century three-light glazing bar sash and a single 20th-century three-light casement, both with timber lintels.
On the upper floor, there is a central 20th-century three-light casement, flanked to the south by a single 19th-century two-light and a single three-light glazing bar Yorkshire sash, and to the north by two 20th-century three-light glazing bar casements. The north gable features a single 20th-century two-light glazing bar casement and a triangular opening with pigeon holes.
