Description
Number 17 is a house located on Church Street in Mansfield Woodhouse, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble and dressed stone, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building features a stone plinth, a single ridge, and single gable stacks. It has two storeys and three bays, with windows that include 19th and 20th-century glazing bar sashes. The east front showcases a central doorcase with a pediment, surrounded by a Gibbs surround and chamfered rustication, leading to a panelled door. This door is flanked by small single sashes, with larger sashes beyond, and three large sashes above. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase with landings, turned newels, and stick balusters, along with re-sited timber panelling in the central hall. The adjoining boundary wall, made of dressed stone and coursed squared rubble, features ramped segmental ashlar coping and is approximately 50 meters long. A 20th-century addition to the right is not of special interest.
