Description
Numbers 36, 38, and 38A on West Gate are two houses that have been converted into two shops. They date from the early 19th century and were restored with the ground floor rebuilt around 1990. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared stone, featuring an ashlar ground floor and dressings, and have a slate roof with coped gables and two coped ashlar gable stacks. They have quoins and a moulded eaves cornice. The structure is three storeys high and has a four-window range of plain sash windows, with four smaller plain sash windows above. The lower windows have been renewed and feature renewed projecting stone surrounds. The ground floor consists of two glazed shop fronts with plastic fascias.
