Description
No. 7 West Gate is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from around 1780, with alterations made around 1870 and in the late 20th century. The building is finished in stucco with stone dressings and has a concrete tile roof. It features rebated eaves and a gutter supported by brackets. The structure is three storeys high and has a two-window range.
On the first floor, there is a mid-19th century full-width shop window that includes five round-cornered lights with slender mullions and decorated spandrels. This section also has a fascia and a moulded cornice. Above the shop window, there are two 9-pane sash windows, which are offset to the right and have projecting stone surrounds. The ground floor has a full-width late 20th-century shop front, complete with pilasters and fluted brackets leading to a small cornice.
