Description
46-52 Leeming Street and 3 and 5 Toothill Lane is a house that has been converted into offices and shops. It dates from the early 18th century and early 19th century, with later alterations from the late 19th century and 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone and is clad in imitation timber-framing with rendered nogging, featuring ashlar dressings and roofs that are hipped and gabled with concrete tiles.
The front facing Leeming Street has a painted ashlar cornice and is three storeys high with five windows across and four down. Most windows are casements with stone surrounds and flush mullions. The central window on the Leeming Street front is a single casement, flanked by two three-light casements. Above this, there is another central single casement with two two-light casements on either side, all of which are blocked. The ground floor has four shop fronts from the mid and late 20th century, with the rightmost shop featuring a recessed corner entrance that extends along Toothill Lane.
On the Toothill Lane front, there are two three-light stone mullioned casements on the right, with two similar two-light casements above. The ground floor has late 19th and early 20th century shop fronts. To the right, there is a lower two-storey block from the early 19th century, which has a plain sash window on the left and a twelve-pane sash window on the right. Above, there are two unequally hung twelve-pane sashes. The ground floor features an early 20th century wooden shop front with a toplight window, a recessed glazed door, and brackets supporting the fascia cornice.
