Description
Heath's Almshouses and the adjoining boundary wall were built in 1855 and restored in the late 20th century. The structure is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features plain tile roofs with coped gables, along with four ridge and four gable brick stacks. The building has a plinth and consists of two blocks, each with six windows, connected by an archway. The windows are flat-headed, two-light casements with wooden mullions. The central archway contains a segment-headed pair of doors with a label mould, and above it is an inscribed and dated scroll. The gable is stepped and coped, featuring a string course and a central shield. Each block of six houses has a central projecting double-gabled porch with two Tudor-arched doorways and board doors, flanked on either side by two two-light windows in chamfered surrounds. Additional pairs of double-gabled porches and single two-light windows in chamfered surrounds are also present. The adjoining boundary wall is made of coursed squared stone with moulded ashlar coping and includes a central pair of square gate piers with gabled caps.
