4/10003 Walls, Railings and attached Covered Playground at the Infant School

GV II

Walls and railings with covered playground. 1878. Cast iron red brick with ashlar dressings and hipped slate roof with ornate ridge tiles and terracotta finials. Rectangular in plan, the covered playground has chamfered corners to the south. Plain north brick wall, with lower walls to the east and west with ashlar coping, and 5 cast iron columns supporting the open south front. Attached to the east a brick wall with regularly spaced square piers with ashlar caps, this wall continues along the street with a lower wall with ashlar coping and iron railings and gables.It then returns along the south boundary with a taller coped wall.
