Description
Morton Hall Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge built from blue and red brick and ashlar. It features a hipped slate roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles and a tall brick ridge stack in a Tudor style. The building is single storey plus attic and consists of two bays, set on a plinth with an ashlar course above. The right bay has no openings, while the slightly projecting left bay includes a wooden gabled open porch supported by a low brick wall with ashlar coping. The porch has a slate roof with decorative ridge tiles and an inner doorway with a plain wooden door. Flanking the porch are narrow fixed lights with ashlar surrounds.
The attic storey slightly breaks into the eaves and is corbelled out with ashlar at this point. There is a two-light casement window with an ashlar surround, divided by a stone mullion, and beneath it are three flush bands of blue brick. Above the window is a small round panel with a gauged brick surround. The attic is capped by an ashlar coped gable with kneelers, featuring single orb finials and an additional finial on the ridge. The west front displays a canted bay, a single casement window with an ashlar surround, and a similar window in the attic.
