Description

The Ranby War Memorial is a war memorial designed by Charles Spooner and was unveiled in 1920. It features a limestone cross with a relief carving of Christ crucified. The cross is set on a low plinth that rests on a large squared base, while an adjoining brick wall is not included in the listing. On the west face of the low plinth, there is an inscription that reads "HE LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME." Below this, on the west face of the base, the memorial honors four individuals with the inscription "IN LOVING MEMORY OF (4 names) WHO FELL IN FRANCE IN THE AUTUMN OF 1918."
