Description
The garden wall, fountain lions, seat, and summer house located to the southwest of Welbeck Abbey were constructed in the mid-18th century and mid-19th century. The wall is made of ashlar and features a mid-19th century coped section to the north and west. Embedded in the west wall is an ashlar and marble fountain, which has two ornamental lions standing on the coping. Behind the fountain is a curved garden seat with scrolled arms and claw feet. The wall ends at the southwest with a summer house from the 18th century, which has a pedimented design and a copper roof. This single-storey structure has three bays and includes a loggia with a modillion pediment and triglyph, supported by Doric columns. The central doorway features a panelled wooden door, flanked by single glazing bar arched fixed lights with panelling underneath.
