Description

A row of seven cottages, originally eight, dating from the early 19th century, situated on the south side of Church Lane in Carlton-in-Lindrick. The cottages are built of dressed coursed rubble with a hipped pantile roof and four red brick ridge stacks. The building is two storeys high and seventeen bays wide, with the central three bays projecting slightly and topped by a stone-coped pediment. A central archway is constructed with ashlar, supported on ashlar impost blocks. To the right of this archway is a doorway, followed by two Yorkshire sash windows. A single sash window is located in what was previously a doorway, followed by another doorway, two more Yorkshire sash windows, and finally a doorway. To the left of the central arch is a doorway, two Yorkshire sash windows, two doorways, two Yorkshire sash windows, and a final doorway. All ground floor openings are topped with painted flush splayed lintels featuring keystones. The doors are panelled, and the windows are Yorkshire sash windows with glazing bars. Above the ground floor, a central arched fixed light features fanned tracery, flanked by four Yorkshire sash windows with glazing bars.
