Description
No. 31 on Potter Street is a shop with a house above, dating from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate roof. It has a tiled stallriser, a first-floor band, deep moulded eaves, a plain parapet, a prominent single gable, and single ridge stacks.
On the left side, there is a 19th-century shop front with a recessed glazed door, flanked by a three-light shop sash on the left and a plate glass window on the right. Timber brackets support a fascia board that is inscribed with the name 'Hopkinson', which was reported to have been renamed on November 8, 2016.
To the right, there is a round-headed carriage entry with a hood mould and coffered imposts, containing close boarded doors. Above this entry, there are three plain sash windows with moulded architraves. A large bracket clock, which had illuminated panels inscribed with 'Douglas Hopkinson' and 'Longines', was reported removed on November 8, 2016.
This building is included for its group value only.
