Description
Small Holme Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, which was refronted in the 18th century. It is timber framed and has been refaced with brick, featuring a coursed rubble plinth that varies in depth and is rendered. The roof is made of pantiles and is hipped to the left, with red brick stacks on the right gable and a single ridge. The farmhouse has an original baffle entry plan and consists of two storeys with five bays. From left to right, the front includes a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash window under a segmental arch, a blocked doorway under a segmental arch, a large tripartite Yorkshire sash window, a doorway with a plank door, and another single glazing bar Yorkshire sash window under a segmental arch. Above these, there are three glazing bar Yorkshire sash windows. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut with a cat slide roof. Inside, there are many visible beams and posts, along with some studded panels. The interior features two large bressumer fireplaces, each with a single smoke hood.
