Description
The gate piers and flanking walls to Normanton Gate, dating from around 1700, were originally removed from Shireoaks Hall and relocated here in the early 20th century. They are constructed of ashlar stone featuring banded rustication. The square piers have moulded bases, rebated corners, and cornices topped with gadrooned swagged urns. The inner faces of the piers include gate stops with scrolled finials, while the outer faces have buttresses that connect to the flanking wall. The flanking walls are made of coursed squared rubble with ashlar coping, featuring shaped flat balusters with two wooden rails and square piers capped with concave pyramidal tops.
