Description
West Retford Hall is a house originally built in 1699, now somewhat altered. It is two storeys high and constructed of red brick, featuring a stone-coped parapet and an added stucco cornice. The building has end brick pilasters and nine windows, with the central three projecting slightly. The windows are hung sashes with glazing bars. A later rectangular brick porch with a double door and a radiating fanlight has been added. On the garden front to the south and the east side, there is a full-height bow added in the late 18th century. The exterior has little ornamentation, and recent one-storey brick extensions have been added. Inside, the original staircase and panelled rooms from the 18th century remain. West Retford Hall, along with its former stables, the Cottage, Rose Ghyll Cottage, a farm building to Rose Ghyll Cottage, and The Barn, form a group.
