Description
No 22, including the garden wall to the southwest with an archway, is a town house built around 1811 by John Parten, Esquire. It features a red brick frontage that rises three storeys and is topped with a slate roof and an eaves cornice supported by paired modillions. The building has four windows, one of which is blocked on each floor, and all the windows lack glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are three windows. The early 19th-century wooden doorcase is of an 18th-century style, complete with a dentil cornice and a pediment. A more elaborate doorcase is located on the west front, which includes Greek Ionic columns, a dentil cornice, an open pediment, and a traceried semi-circular fanlight. The property also includes an attached garden wall with an archway and doorway. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 18, 18A, 19, and 21 to 24, as well as the building between Nos 24 and 25, and Nos 25 to 27.
