Description
Nos 23 and 24 on The Square are mid-18th century buildings that stand three stories tall, constructed from red brick with a Welsh slate roof and end stacks. The central section of the building features a pediment that breaks forward, flanked by rusticated pilasters, which are also present at both ends. There is a small parapet above, along with a moulded cornice and a rusticated ground floor. The first and second floors have three windows each, with shouldered and shaped stucco surrounds and cills on tabs. The first-floor windows are arranged in groups of three lights. Only remnants of the original cornices and pediments are visible. The ground floor has two modern windows of three lights and two round-arched doorways with radiating fanlights. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 18, 18A, 19, 21 to 24, the building between Nos 24 and 25, and Nos 25 to 27.
