Description
77 Carolgate is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall, constructed of brick with a pantile roof and a dentil brick eaves cornice. The elevation facing New Street features three windows on the upper two storeys, each with moulded flush surrounds and stone keystones, fitted with hung sashes that include glazing bars. The ground floor has two similar windows, one of which retains its shutters. The entrance door consists of six panels set within a moulded wood surround, topped by a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars and a keystone. On the Carolgate side, there is one window above the shop front, flanked by plain pilasters. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 71 and 73, which are considered buildings of local interest, along with Nos 77 to 83 (odd).
