Description
40 High Street is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall, constructed from brick with a pantile roof and brick stacks at the gable ends. The eaves are supported by paired brackets. The facade features two windows, which are hung sashes with glazing bars and have carved lintels with keystones. There is a decorative band at the top of the window cills on the top floor. The ground floor includes a shop front with plain pilasters and a dentil cornice on the right, alongside a similar doorway on the left that has a door made up of four fielded panels and panelled reveals, as well as one window. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 16 to 46 (even), 46A, 48 to 64 (even), 64A, and 66 to 100 (even).
