Description
Nos 46, 46A, 48, 50, and 50A on High Street are a group of buildings from the 18th century, featuring a mix of brick and some medieval stonework, all of which are now painted. The buildings are two storeys tall with attics and have a pantile roof that includes brick stacks and three gabled dormers. The windows are sliding sashes with glazing bars, and there are four hung sash windows with glazing bars on the upper floor.
The ground floor showcases two large early 19th-century shallow bow shop windows with a simple cornice, which are separated by an entrance that has a segmental fanlight with Gothic glazing bars. There is also a small paned bow window and a door with six fielded panels beneath a three-light rectangular fanlight. To the left, there is a passage entry, along with a modern door and a small early 19th-century shop front alongside modern features.
These buildings, along with Nos 16 to 46 (even), 46A, 48, 50, 50A, 52 to 64 (even), 64A, and Nos 66 to 100 (even), form a significant group in the area.
