Description
School House Cottage and the adjoining Manor Room is a coach house and cottage, now functioning as a house, dating from the mid-18th century with mid and late 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of dressed stone, partly rendered, and features a steeply pitched pantile roof with ashlar dressings. It has coped gables with kneelers and includes two gable stacks, two ridge stacks, and a single rear wall stack. The structure is single storey plus attics and consists of six unequal bays.
The east front has four casement windows on the left. To their right, there is a chamfered keystoned round-headed double door flanked by matching single casements. Further right, there is a casement with a segmental head, and beyond that, an altered keystoned round-headed opening containing a door with single flanking casements. Above this section, to the left, is a cross eaves flat-roofed dormer.
On the street side, there is a door on the left, flanked by a hatch on the left and a casement on the right. Further right, there is a late 19th-century lean-to porch with a plain tiled roof covering two close boarded doors. To the right of the porch, there is a Yorkshire sash window and a 20th-century bow window. Above this area, there is another flat-roofed cross eaves dormer. To the far right, there is a lean-to outbuilding and a boundary wall approximately 10 meters long.
