Description

Maypole. 19th century. Made of wood and wrought iron, this tall wooden pole is painted with spiraling red, white, and blue alternating lines and is wedged into a tall, rectangular base. It is crowned with a painted wooden orb topped by a wrought iron weathervane featuring a fox motif. This structure is included for its group value only.
