Description
The Schoolhouse and attached cottage, located on Front Street in Tealby, date from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a pantile roof with coped gables, kneelers, and gable stacks. It is two stories high with a three-bay front. The central doorway has a splayed plaster lintel, a rectangular overlight, and a partially glazed 20th-century door. On either side of the doorway are glazing bar sash windows, with three similar windows above, all featuring splayed plaster lintels. The left side of the building has a pair of pointed stone lights set at first-floor level. The early 19th-century cottage attached to the right side is also made of coursed ironstone rubble and has a pantile roof with a single gable stack. Its doorway is located to the left, featuring a wooden lintel, a rectangular overlight, and an eight-panel door. To the right of the doorway is a three-light sliding sash window, with a two-light sliding sash window above, both with splayed plaster lintels.
