Description

The property comprises a house and cottage, built in the early 19th century and late 17th century respectively. The house is constructed of coursed stone with a stone slate roof. It has two first-floor windows and a central doorway featuring an ashlar surround with a round-arched head containing a keystone and voussoirs, quoined jambs, and a four-panel door beneath a plain fanlight. Sash windows are positioned below weather courses. The house has shaped kneelers, ashlar copings, and end stacks. Adjoining the house on the left is a cottage built of rubble with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys, with a two-light window on each floor, featuring a flush mullion. A chamfered surround frames the doorway on the right, where a board door is located. A stack is situated at the left end. The house served as the schoolmaster’s residence for the nearby Methodist School, which was built in 1855 and destroyed by fire in 1963.
