Description
Calvertcote is a house and attached cottage built under one roof, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the 18th century. It features watershot coursed rubble and a stone slate roof, and stands two storeys high with three first floor windows in total. The house has two first floor windows with ashlar surrounds, a central doorway with a four-panel door, and a 17th century datestone that is reputedly set in the wall above, though it is hidden by ivy. The windows are four-pane sash types, and there are end stacks. The cottage to the right has a door and a four-pane sash window on the ground floor, and a window matching the house on the first floor, along with an end stack. The building is adorned with shaped kneelers and ashlar copings throughout. At the rear, there are projecting through-stones. The left return features a blocked doorway with an ashlar surround and a sash window with glazing bars in an ashlar surround, both of which are associated with a shop that was formerly located at the end of the building.
