Description

The Old Rectory and Faggots End is a former rectory that has been converted into two houses. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped pantile roof supported by two brick ridge stacks. It is two storeys high with attics and has a five-bay front facing the garden. The arrangement of the bays is 1:3:1, with the central three bays slightly projecting.

The central entrance consists of glazed doors with plain overlights, flanked by pairs of plain sash windows. On the first floor, there are five plain sash windows, with the central three being lower than the side windows of the original house. To the left of the front, there is a full-height bowed bay that includes glazed double doors flanked by plain sashes, with a central sash window above and single blank openings on either side on the first floor. The roof features two dormers with glazing bar sashes, which have flat roofs and cheeks. All openings are topped with flat ashlar lintels, with the three upper windows having keystones, while those on the sides reach the eaves.

To the right of the main front is a lower two-storey service block made of red brick, also with a pantile roof. This block has three irregular bays and features glazing bar sashes on both floors.
