Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory, now a house, built in 1876. It features red brick with terracotta details and slate roofs, with bargeboarded gables. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a four-bay front that includes a plinth, a moulded band at the first floor, and a sill band. The central canted bay is topped with a terracotta balustrade and has glazed double doors flanked by sashes. To the left, there is a 20th-century glazed door and a three-light window, while to the right, there is a single fixed light and another canted bay with a balustrade, glazed door, and sashes.

On the first floor, there is a central tripartite window, a single casement with a wooden cross mullion to the left, a single light to the right, and another cross mullion casement. Adjacent to the single light is a square terracotta panel featuring the raised date 1876 and the initials TB. The building has three plain bargeboarded gables, each with decorative square panels defined by raised bricks and decorative terracotta paterae at the joints. All windows are adorned with moulded terracotta architraves and short fluted friezes above.

The entrance front has three irregular bays and two gables, one slightly projecting and the other advanced. The left gable contains an elaborately panelled door with a moulded terracotta architrave, which is accessed by five steps covered by an open-sided gabled wooden porch with decorative covering. To the right, the stair is illuminated by three stepped vertical lights, and above the door are three tall lights. The gables and window surrounds feature similar decorative details as those on the garden front.
