Description

The gateway at Scampton House Farm, located in a field to the west of the house, dates from the early 17th century and is constructed of ashlar. It features a semi-circular headed rusticated arch with moulded imposts and a segmental rear arch. The gateway is flanked by paired studded Doric columns on rusticated pedestals, which support a frieze and a broken segmental pediment topped by an obelisk. Beneath the pediment is a plain oval panel that is slightly raised. The frieze includes groups of three guttae. This gateway was built for Sir John Bolle after 1603 and is the only remaining structure after the Hall was demolished.
