Description

No 22 on Market Place is an early 19th-century building that originally formed a single composition with No 24, which is of local interest. The left side features a modillion pediment with a round-headed arcade above a central window that has three lights and no glazing bars. It includes moulded heads, joint stone cills, and moulded stone surrounds. The first floor, interrupted by a fascia board, has three windows beneath flat cornices. This section is finished with rusticated quoins and is rendered. The right-hand section is constructed of red brick and has two windows with hung sashes that include glazing bars, carved lintels with keystones, and a band at the cills. The ground floor has a segmental bowed shop front that lacks glazing bars. Nos 20, 22, and 30 form a group with No 24, while the side elevation of No 20 also groups with the side elevation of No 32 on Lord Street.
