Description
Debonnaire Cottage, Old Post Office, and Stone Cottage is a row of three cottages and a former Post Office built in the 18th century, with significant alterations and additions made in 1911 in the Vernacular Revival style. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble, featuring some yellow brick dressings, tile-hung gables, and an interlocking tiled roof that has three ridge stacks and one gable stone stack.
The cottages are one and a half storeys high with an irregular ten-bay front. The left two bays are advanced, and the fifth, seventh, and ninth bays have separate gables. The doors are planked, with the left door set back in a semi-circular archway. The windows are two-light glazing bar casements with segmental heads, and the upper glazing bar casements are located either at the eaves or at the base of the tile-hung gables. Above the left door, there is a plaque commemorating the rebuilding of the cottages in 1911 in memory of the 8th Lord Monson. The buildings are listed for their group value.
