Description
The Roman Catholic Church of St Thomas of Canterbury was built between 1865 and 1868, designed by M E Hadfield and Son. This small church is constructed of red brick with a blue brick band and features a Welsh slate roof with ridge tiles and stone-coped gable ends. It has four small arched windows, each with a stone band at the cills and a blue brick band at the impost height. The church includes a gabled porch with ashlar dressings on the west elevation, a nave, and one aisle. Inside, there is a small wooden gallery supported by two octagonal piers. The church and the adjacent Clergy House are recognized as a group.
