Description
Cleveland House, located at No 16 Spital Terrace, is an early 19th-century building with later 19th-century alterations. It is two storeys high and constructed of pale brick. The centre features a cornice string and a parapet, with three windows that are hung sashes with glazing bars. These windows have rusticated lintels with keystones on both storeys, and the centre section projects slightly forward. To the right is a later 19th-century addition, which includes terracotta panels at the cornice above two round-arched windows with keystones and cills supported by brackets, leading to an arcaded entry with a door and two set-back windows. The left-hand section, dating from the early 19th century, has one to two windows that are also hung sashes with glazing bars, featuring keystoned lintels on the ground floor. The roof is made of Welsh slate. Cleveland House is part of a group with Nos 10 to 24 (even), of which Nos 10, 12, and 18 to 24 (even) are of local interest.
