Description
West Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1731, with alterations and extensions made in the late 18th century. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Collyweston slate roof with stone coped gables. It has three ashlar gable stacks, two of which have moulded cornices.
The building is two stories high with attics and has a three-bay front. The front features a central six-panelled door with a traceried overlight, flanked by single tripartite glazing bar sashes. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar sashes with bracketed cills. All openings are framed with plain stone architraves and stepped keyblocks.
The roof includes two hipped dormers that have glazing bar sashes and slate hung cheeks. The left gable features a quoin that bears the date 1731. Attached to the right is a lower two-story service block from the late 18th century, which has two bays, a half-glazed door, and a tripartite glazing bar sash, both with ashlar lintels and keyblocks. Additionally, there are two hipped glazing bar sash dormers that extend through the eaves.
