Description

Horbling Hall is a house built around 1860, constructed from limestone ashlar and coursed limestone rubble. It features slate roofs with stone-coped gables that have kneelers, modillioned eaves on the return walls, and various stacks made of ashlar, including a single ridge and gable stack and three lateral stacks. The building is two storeys high with a garret and has a three-bay front. To the left is a projecting gabled bay made of ashlar, while the two bays to the right are made of rubble, with the rightmost bay also being gabled.

The façade includes a plinth and two canted long bay windows, each with double glazed doors flanked by ashlar pilasters and narrow fixed lights. To the left, there is a rectangular bay window featuring a three-light mullion window flanked by single lights. The central canted bay extends up to meet an upper canted bay window with three plain sashes that have ashlar surrounds and battlements. The right-hand bay also extends to join an upper canted bay window with three plain sashes, ashlar surrounds, battlements, and a slit light in the gable above. The left-hand rectangular bay rises to connect with a canted first-floor bay that has a two-light mullion casement flanked by single lights, along with a small two-light casement above in the gable.

There is a doorway located in the west return. Inside, there is a fine contemporary three-flight return staircase made of mahogany, featuring two turned bannisters for each tread, carved tread ends, a bold and richly moulded bulbous newel, and a moulded handrail. The interior also boasts delicately moulded ornate plaster cornices.
