Description
Bede Cottages is a cottage built around 1800, with an extension added in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared stone with brick quoins and features a pantile roof. The building has brick ridge and gable stacks topped with coped double octagonal flues, and a ball finial on the south gable. It is a single-storey structure with a range of five windows. There are three unevenly spaced three-light windows with stone mullions and surrounds, cornices, and diamond pane glazing. Between the two left windows, there is a smaller single-light window. To the left, there is a lean-to addition that includes a reglazed window in a stone surround. This cottage is likely one of those rebuilt between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory and later remodeled in a picturesque style between 1820 and 1840 by Gregory Gregory, who were successive Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton. It is included for its group value.
