Description
No. 2 Pond Street is a former farm cottage, now a house, located in Harlaxton. It dates from the late 18th century and has been altered in the mid 19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick and coursed squared stone, featuring moulded brick dressings and a pantile roof. It has single ridge and gable brick stacks with round topped panels and dentillated eaves. The house is two storeys high and has a four-window range. The windows, primarily 20th-century two-light casements with leaded glazing, have coved surrounds and are set in bays defined by rounded pilasters. In the third bay, there is a single light window with a plain surround and a blocked light. Below this, a rebated brick doorcase contains a 20th-century door. The ground floor windows are adorned with cornices. This building is likely one of those constructed or modified between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory, and later altered between 1820 and 1840 by Gregory Gregory, who were successive Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
