Description
Porch House is a house from the early 19th century, remodeled around 1830 and renovated in the late 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with brick dressings and has a concrete tile roof. The house features two brick gable stacks with coped double flues set diagonally and brick quoins. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range.
At the center, there is a two-storey box-framed gabled porch with rendered nogging and a four-light wood mullioned window with diamond panes. The open lower stage covers a gable-headed board door that has a brick surround and stone lintel. On each floor, there is a three-light stone mullioned window with a brick surround, with the ground floor windows being larger.
At the rear, there is a large 20th-century brick buttress featuring round arched openings for a door and a window. This building is likely one of those rebuilt between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory and remodeled in a picturesque style between 1820 and 1840 by Gregory Gregory, who were successive Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
