Description
South Lodge to Belton Park in Londonthorpe is a gate lodge built around 1840. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate roof with lead dressings, highlighted by a large central panelled stone chimney. The building has a two-storey, three-bay front with curved Dutch gables at both ends and on the flanking front bays. There is a string course and a moulded cornice at the first floor level. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a moulded surround, flanked by timber two-light casement windows, also in moulded surrounds. The first floor features a central oval moulded recess that contains a plain cartouche, flanked by windows similar to those on the ground floor. Stone ball finials adorn the corners, the center, and the center of the gables. Additionally, there is a single-storey wing at the rear.
