Description
Number 18 on West Street is an early 19th-century building constructed of red brick, featuring a concrete tile mansard roof and a brick modillion cornice. It has two storeys and two windows on the upper floor, which are set in plain reveals with flat arches and hung sashes that include glazing bars. The ground floor window is framed by a concrete architrave. The former passage entrance has been converted into the main doorway, which features a round arch, a glazed fanlight, and a painted stone architrave with a keystone. Inside, there are panelled ingoes and a four-fielded door. The building is dated to the rear as 1834, with a later extension to the left that has two windows and is dated 1847. Number 18 is part of a group that includes numbers 6 to 18 (even) and the Baptist Chapel.
