Description

The Baptist Chapel, dated 1835, is a two-story building. The front facade is constructed of ashlar and features pilasters at the corners. It includes a plinth, three round-headed windows linked by moulded stone bands with shallow pilasters, a moulded cornice, and a parapet displaying the date. A central entrance has eight-panel double doors set within a stone doorcase surmounted by a pediment resting on moulded console brackets, approached by three stone steps. The chapel is of brick to the sides. The interior contains an attractive iron balustrade to the platform and pulpit steps. The chapel forms a group with numbers 6 to 18 (even) on West Street.
