Description

33 St Peter’s Street is an early 2-storey house dating from the early 17th century, with an 18th-century barn within its curtilage. The house is tall with a high mansard roof covered in stone slates, featuring two flat-topped dormers. It is constructed of ashlar stone, with two 2-storey canted bays rendered in the middle, each featuring three-light windows with marginal glazing. A datestone inscribed "1660" has been inserted into the front elevation. The rear elevation displays some half-timbered construction. A modern central doorway is recessed and framed with a round arch, adorned with a triple keystone and a plain glazed fanlight. Access is provided by six stone steps, composed of three curved and three straight sections, alongside a foot scraper. The barn is two-storeys high, built with coursed rubble, and also has a mansard roof of stone slates. A section of an old wall is present within the barn's grounds. The house is part of a group which includes numbers 26 to 33, a wall in the yard adjacent to number 33, and stabling to the rear of number 37.
