Description

This is a former school, dating from 1819, now used as a house. It is located on the west side of Church Street in Market Deeping. The building is constructed of coursed and banded limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is covered in Collyweston slate, and features two red brick gable stacks. The two-storey, five-bay front has a central flush-panelled door, with a single glazing bar sash window to the left and three glazing bar sashes to the right. The first floor has three smaller, similarly styled windows, with a further dropped glazing bar sash to the left. All window and door openings are topped with flat ashlar arches. A rectangular stone panel above the middle window, to the right, is inscribed “Erected by the Feofees of Market Deeping Charity Estates A.D. 1819”. Semi-circular headed boot scraper insets are positioned on either side of the front door.
