Description

North Parade numbers 3 to 11 form a Georgian terrace of red brick houses, dating from the 18th century. The buildings are three storeys high with a basement, and have slate roofs. A moulded cornice runs along the top of the building, extending to all properties except number 3, and is followed by a small parapet. The basements are rendered. Numbers 3, 7, and 11 have three-light bay windows extending through all three storeys. Numbers 5 and 9 are slightly recessed, each with a single window. Each house has a door with a moulded wooden architrave and panelled ingoes, above a rectangular glazed fanlight, with stone steps leading to the entrance. Some of the properties retain their original cast iron railings. The terrace is notable as the only pre-20th century buildings on the West side of North Parade, and is in keeping with the character of the buildings on the East side.
